Marshmallow Squash - People had to guess how many marshmallows were in the Jar. We had a range of guesses, the actual amount was 372 and our winner was April. (lucky April!)
Our second competition was called Face the Cookie, where people had to get a cookie from their forehead into their mouth, using only their facial muscles. This was great entertainment for those of us manning the stand!
In P2 we are Digital Citizens. We are choosing to act in a safe, respectful, and responsible way online.
In order to do this we looked at the power and responsibility that comes with using the internet. We brainstormed all the ways we can be safe, responsible and respectful while online.
Here is our brainstorm on Google Docs.
Now we are creating Digital Superheroes. Our superheroes must help people be safe, responsible and respectful online. Watch this space for these creative characters.
This week we have settled in to our routines for the year.
We have started our weekly SED (super exciting drawing), Ten 4 10 (Write at least 10 lines in 10 minutes), Book club (for Novels and Journal Studies).
Our class Novel this term is The City of Ember. While I read the book, students are taking notes on characters and setting and we are going to recreate the book in Minecraft! We have 2 project managers and two teams. One for the city and one for the storerooms and tunnels beneath the ground.
In amongst all the serious moments of expectations and learning, we have had some fun. I introduced P2 to 'Go Noodle", a brain break site. Whenever I play something from this site, it is compulsary for everyone to stand up and do the activity. Because of this we now have a pretty cool class handshake!
We have also had a few games of Kahoot, and even spent some time with P1 (our other Puarenga year 7 class) as Tuakana Teina, teaching them how to use this great learning tool too.
Check out our dancing skills! We are a little uncoordinated at the moment :)
Sunshine, friendships, great food, and exciting activities. P2 students had a blast at Rotoma last week.
Fears were overcome, new friendships were made. I enjoyed getting to know P2 students and their parents. What a great class we have and shared memories to last a life time. I bet you are all enjoying your hot showers and flushing toilets!
